The Indirect Tax Accountant will support the Manager EU Indirect Taxes and BU TAX team in delivering service excellence to the business in reporting for indirect taxes (e.g. VAT, excise taxes, Intrastat, consumption tax, etc.) with an emphasis on customer service and continuous process improvement to further enhance the service level and effectiveness expected throughout.
This position will be tasked with ensuring the preparation of VAT, excise tax, consumption tax and other Indirect tax compliance filings and reporting for European entities. The person may act as contact with local authorities on some routine indirect tax matters.
Key contributions Output and Key Indicators
Financial Services Delivery
• Ensure that Coca-Cola Europacific Partners policies are adhered to (e.g. approvals, financial guidelines, etc.)
• Ensures the general ledger tax accounts are accurate and recorded timely
• Ensure timely VAT and other Indirect tax compliance, filing and reporting for European entities.
• Supports identified issues, queries and needs from tax authorities and ensure timely provision of the requested documents
• Supports internally different departments across the organization (accounting, supply chain, sales etc.) for indirect tax issues
• Documents indirect tax processes and updates the documentation in case of a process change
• Supplies routine advice on indirect tax processes and support continuous improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects
• Ensures compliance with company policies, relevant accounting and tax requirements and internal controls (SOX)
• Effective and efficient service delivery
• SOX Reviews & audit findings
Relationships
• Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders in BU Finance and TAX team to drive understanding and support for indirect tax
• Liaises with BU customers to ensure requests are dealt with in a timely way and information given is relevant and in a usable format
• Positive and constructive relationships with key stakeholders
Continuous Improvement:
• Supports the Associate Director Indirect Tax EU and the Manager EU Indirect Taxes in driving end-to-end standard indirect tax processes across countries
• Assists in developing best practice processes and highlighting opportunities for process improvement
• Continuous improvement culture within team
• Assesses opportunities for process improvement initiatives
Requirements:
• University Degree and professional accounting or tax qualification University Degree and professional accounting or tax qualification
• Minimum of 3 years accounting experience preferably in a multinational company or shared services environment and/or big 4 audit firm
• Ability to address or escalate complex issues relating to indirect taxes (eg, VAT, Intrastat, excise taxes, etc.)
• Knowledge of general accounting and indirect tax reporting and requirements of regulatory agencies (VAT, excise tax, customs formalities, etc.)
• Strong ERP experience essential, preferably SAP and Excel
• English and Portuguese/Spanish language skills
• Strong focus on providing the highest level of customer service
