H&M has expanded substantially in recent years and today we have around 2300 stores spread across 43 markets. Germany is our biggest market, followed by the UK and Sweden. We have great potential for continued expansion and growth this year, too. H&M launched a franchise operation in the Middle East, in Dubai and Kuwait, during the autumn 2006. However, franchising is not otherwise part of H&M’s establishment strategy. H&M was established in Västerås, Sweden in 1947 by Erling Persson. We now sell clothes and cosmetics in around 2 300 stores around the world. Here are some brief facts about H&M: H&M offers fashion and quality at the best price. H&M’s first store was opened in Sweden in 1947. H&M offers fashion for women, men, teenagers and children. The collections are created centrally by around 100 in-house designers together with buyers and pattern makers. H&M also sells own-brand cosmetics, accessories and footwear. The stores are refreshed daily with new fashion items. Online shopping is currently available in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and the UK. H&M does not own any factories, but instead buys its goods from around 700 independent suppliers, primarily in Asia and Europe. H&M has about 16 production offices around the world, mainly in Asia and Europe. H&M employs about 87 000 people. The turnover in 2010 was SEK 126 966 million. From 2011, H&M is also operationg in Bulgaria.

Your responsibilities:

The job of an H&M Department Manager comes with lots of responsibility – and lots of fun. Your to-do list includes:
· Ensure that your department is providing excellent customer service on the store floor, in the fitting rooms and at the cash desk
· Ensure that all merchandise is properly received and displayed according to our guidelines
· Implement and follow up sales activities together with the store team
· Recruit, train, develop and assess Sales Advisors together with the store management team
· Plan, staff and organise your department to meet business needs
· Ensure profitability through budget planning, follow-up, back office routines and loss prevention
· Set an example for your team and act as a role model
