Legal Counsel/ Senior Legal Counsel in General Legal Services Department - Business Units

UBB was established in 1992 through the merger of 22 Bulgarian regional commercial banks as the first and largest in terms of scope consolidation project in the Bulgarian banking sector, and since 2017 the Bank has been part of the Belgian bank-insurance group КВС, currently the largest financial group in Bulgaria.

Currently we are looking for a Legal Counsel to join the great team of our Legal Directorate and who will have the following:

MAIN CHALLENGES:

• Provides legal services to the business units in the Bank - units, which activity is related to working with clients, using various banking products and services;
• Renders legal advice to the Bank’s employees in the process of development/ implementation of new products and processes, including those related to digitalization and innovations;
• Elaborates and coordinates templates of agreements, General Terms and Conditions and internal rules and procedures, related to the activity of the Bank’s business units, in accordance with the effective banking regulations, the consumer and competition legislation in Bulgaria and the EU, while taking into account the respective recent case-law;
• Renders legal advice to the employees of the Bank's Branch Network in relation to legal succession, representation/authorization, disputed transactions, account types;
• Participates in the monitoring of the national and European legislation, as well as supervisory practices, by rendering legal assistance for their implementation in the Bank's activity.

THE PERFECT CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE:

• Higher education in Law - Master's degree with acquired legal capacity;
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken, including legal English;
• Professional experience - at least 2 years of experience in a financial institution or in another entity with similar features would be considered an advantage;
• Very good legal literacy - knowledge in the field of contract law and commercial law, consumer protection, digital law, payment products and services, civil procedure;
• Ability to analyze facts and legal issues under different cases, as well as application of appropriate legal methods in the run of court proceedings in order to ensure the best possible protection for the Bank;
• Very good computer literacy, MS Office skills and quick mastering of various internal systems;
• Ability to work effectively in a team, good communication and initiative-taking skills, responsible attitude towards the assignments.
